Traveling in Altai

Altai On Earth there are few such wonderful places as Altai. This is a large mountainous country in the center of Asia, on the territory of four states: Russia, Kazakhstan, China and Mongolia. We, in Russia, have two Altai – two subjects of the federation with the name “Altai”: the Altai Territory and the Republic of Altai. Until 1991, they were one: the Gorno-Altai region, as an autonomy, was part of the Altai Territory. And now, each subject demonstrates its importance. But it takes few tourists. They are attracted to Big Altai – a virgin corner of nature on the outskirts of Russia: the highest mountains, clear rivers, emerald lakes, local identities and proud people. Continue reading

What tourists should not do in Israel

Freedom is felt in other cities. But in the Holy Land there are taboos that are better not to break.

Wearing indecent clothing in religious neighborhoods
At the entrance to the religious quarters of Israeli cities there are warning signs: “It is forbidden to enter with an organized tourist group and in indecent clothing.” Ultra-Orthodox Jews are extremely negative about t-shirts, shorts, short skirts and a neckline. For tourists who want to see with their own eyes the focus of Israeli color and feel the atmosphere of the pre-war European ghetto, there is a dress code.

Dress code in the religious quarters of Israeli cities

Men should be in long trousers, a shirt and closed boots, always with a covered head. Women need to close their knees and elbows. Clothing should not emphasize the figure. An unmarried woman is supposed to walk with her head uncovered, but long hair needs to be bundled. If a woman is married, a scarf should be on her head. 10 places in Helsinki that will not be shown to “package” tourists

Walking along the narrow shopping streets, sandwiched between laconic, austere modern buildings, tourists complain about the lack of attractions. Basically, people come to the capital of Finland for one day to make stylish purchases in the designer quarter and try local dishes, after which they go to other Scandinavian countries or return to Russia. Meanwhile, the sights of the city are not only Aleksanterinkatu Street, Senate Square with the Cathedral and Market Square. If you turn off the hiking trails, Helsinki will pleasantly surprise you with the beauty of sea landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere, and photographs on the background of little-known sights will decorate your Instagram profile.

Unfortunately, seeing the most interesting places in Helsinki will not work as part of an excursion group – most of them are located outside the center. To see all the sights from the list, it is most convenient to purchase a pass for 2-3 days and use comfortable public transport. Continue reading
